1. Who we are
RFN Africa ("we", "us", "our") is the distributor of RFN electric off-road motorcycles in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. Our facility is at 11 Botany Place, 28 Die Agora Road, Croydon, Kempton Park, Gauteng. You can reach us at info@rfnafrica.co.za or +27 72 806 5015.
2. Scope
This policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). It applies to this website, our online store, our forms, our WhatsApp interactions, and any in-person dealings at our facility.
3. Information we collect
- Identity & contact data: name, email, phone, location, age range of intended rider.
- Order data: items purchased, delivery address, billing address, order history.
- Payment data: handled by Shopify Payments and its gateway partners — we do not store full card numbers.
- Lead data: enquiries, test-ride requests, dealer applications, finance interest.
- Technical data: IP address, device, browser, pages viewed, basic analytics.
4. Why we process it (lawful basis)
- To fulfil orders and provide service & warranty support — performance of a contract.
- To respond to enquiries — your consent / our legitimate interest.
- To send transactional emails (order confirmation, shipping) — performance of a contract.
- To send marketing — only with your consent; you can opt out at any time.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations — legal obligation.
5. Sharing
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the business — Shopify (storefront, checkout, payments), our delivery partners, our finance partners (with your consent), email/SMS providers, and our hosting provider. We do not sell your personal information.
6. International transfers
Some of our service providers (e.g. Shopify) store data outside South Africa. We rely on the provider's contractual safeguards, which provide a level of protection comparable to POPIA.
7. Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law (e.g. tax records: 5 years). Marketing data is kept until you withdraw consent.
8. Your rights (POPIA)
You have the right to access, correct, delete, object to processing, withdraw consent, and lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator. To exercise any of these rights, email info@rfnafrica.co.za. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Security
We use HTTPS across the site, RBAC on our admin tools, and Shopify-managed PCI-DSS infrastructure for payments. No system is perfectly secure — please choose strong passwords and tell us immediately if you suspect any compromise of your account.
10. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies for cart persistence, session, and basic analytics. You can clear or block cookies in your browser; some features (such as cart) will not work without them.
11. Children
Although many of our products are for young riders, accounts and purchases on this site are for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
12. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted at the top of this page.
